About Me.

As long as I can remember I always wanted to act!
From the age of 7,  I was a regular performer in the Drama Festivals in our local town, and attended weekly Speech and Drama lessons.

Throughout my school years I was always involved in some production or other- but I went to a stuffy all Girls' Grammar School and pursuing the goal of becoming a Professional Actress was simply 'Off the Radar!' My Father even used to comment that I wanted to be 'an out-of-work-actress' (and for a while when I was younger, I used to think that this was an actual job title!)

So for a good number of years my path was to take me into a career teaching French (which is a language I love, and speak fluently) and English - with some drama thrown in of course. My own performing was confined to being a wonderful hobby - and time passed.....................

Fast forward 30 years or so..... I've seen my 4 children grow up (with all the joy - and heartbreak- they bring!) been married 3 times (divorced twice) gave up the classroom to pursue business interests,  made at discovery at the age of 43 that I had been adopted as a baby and sought out my 'birth' family in Australia....Life has certainly thrown me some curved balls..... yet the passion for acting never waned.

There comes a point in life where you suddenly 'wake up' and realise that it's not too late to follow your dream: As Jim Carey recently said, 'You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love'.  My 'wake up' call was when I hit 50!

Since then I have continued to be involved with theatre productions, but have also worked with 'English in Action' delivering Improvisation Drama in schools and have have had speaking roles in several short films and  feature films, and taken the lead of Maureen in a very funny production of 'Waiting for Gateaux' at the Customs House in South Shields. I am also a cast member of 'Murder One' a company that delivers improvised Murder Mystery theatre shows and TIE, plus have been involved in various corporate training videos.  I am registered on Spotlight.  I am always pro-active and continually seek out new and interesting opportunities.

One of my favourite quotations is often attributed to Mark Twain:"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did: So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover...."

.........and that's EXACTLY what i intend to do!
